Classic Chocolate Fudge Recipe

Classic Chocolate Fudge Recipe

– 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
– 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– A pinch of salt
– Optional: nuts, marshmallows, or other mix-ins

1. **Prepare the Pan**:
– Line an 8×8 inch baking dish with aluminum foil or parchment paper, allowing some overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the lining.

2. **Melt the Ingredients**:
– In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.
– Heat over low to medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate chips and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

3. **Add Vanilla and Salt**:
– Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
– If you’re adding any mix-ins (like nuts or marshmallows), fold them in now.

4. **Pour into the Pan**:
– Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

5. **Chill**:
– Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it is firm.

6. **Cut and Serve**:
– Once the fudge is set, lift it out of the pan using the overhanging foil or parchment paper.
– Cut into squares and serve.

### Tips:
– For a creamier texture, you can substitute half of the semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk chocolate chips.
– Experiment with different mix-ins like crushed cookies, toffee bits, or dried fruit.

Enjoy your homemade chocolate fudge!
