Cheesy Garlic Bread

 

 

Ingredients:

**For the Dough:**
– 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 1 cup (240ml) warm water
– 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 teaspoon salt

**For the Topping:**
– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

 Instructions:

1. **Prepare the Dough:**
– In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
– In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture.
– Mix until a dough forms, then knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
– Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

2. **Prepare the Topping:**
– In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic. Set aside.

3. **Assemble the Cheesy Garlic Bread:**
– Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
– Punch down the risen dough and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch (30cm) circle or to fit your baking sheet or pizza pan.
– Transfer the dough to a lightly greased baking sheet or pizza pan.
– Brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over the dough.
– Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

4. **Bake the Cheesy Garlic Bread:**
– Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
– Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, if using.
