Reporter’s favorite girl (2) dies after heroic battle with leukemia

Nine months ago, Hallie Kyed was just two years old when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in April 2023. Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald shared on Instagram that tragically, as the name suggests, 2-year-old NFL reporter Hallie passed away on January 21.

According to Kyed, things changed for her little girl when she went back and replaced the bones. Chemotherapy wasn’t working anymore.

“Hallie died peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning as Jen and I lay in bed holding hands,” Doug wrote. ‘We are completely lost and heartbroken without Hallie. Our lives will never be the same.”

As Doug continues, his youngest daughter “was a special child.” Even though it is only two years old, “it has had a positive impact. about so many people she met.”

“We were lucky to be her parents, and Olivia was lucky to have such a beautiful sister.”

As the reporter explained: “They knew the disease was bad when she came back. After the bone transplant, the whole family spent a lot of time in the hospital last week, but we had hope for how brave we would recover. Strong and patient, Hallie battled acute myeloid leukemia and all its side effects for nine months. But despite Hallie’s strength and resilience in the face of such challenges, “post-transplant chemotherapy was ineffective, and her leukemia was already advanced when she began treatment.”

Doug praised doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital for “doing all they could to help Hallie, and she beat AML every day for more than nine months.” Nothing could have prepared us for this moment after our initial diagnosis in April or after our successful transplant in October. ‘ 9 from his bed. ”

“Hal, my baby koa, my baby Hallie Bear, my baby Sour Patch Kid […] was adorable, clearly funny (and knew it), and would be a star in dance class. Doctors, nurses and hospital staff would look at what the Queen was wearing that day (or time). And although “the world is a worse place without Hallie,” Doug believes those mourning the loss of his daughter will learn something from her; “It’s about knowing exactly what you want, whether it’s getting a ride or wearing a Disney costume (usually Cruella), and persisting in wanting it,” she said.

“I will miss cutting her hair, kissing her head, telling her that I love her very much. Hallie forever. ”
Hallie will be laid to rest on January 26. Our hearts and prayers are with the Kyed family during this particularly difficult time.
