Oven-Baked Short Ribs Recipe

– 4 lbs beef short ribs
– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
– 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup honey
– 1/4 cup ketchup
– 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tsp smoked paprika
– 1 tsp ground black pepper
– 1 tsp onion powder
– 1 tsp garlic powder
– 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a bit of heat)
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1. **Preheat the Oven:**
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

2. **Prepare the Marinade:**
In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, ketchup, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, smoked paprika, ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well until the sugar is dissolved and the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

3. **Marinate the Ribs:**
Place the short ribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a baking dish. Pour the marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for best results.

4. **Bake the Ribs:**
Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them in a large baking dish. Pour the beef broth into the dish around the ribs, then cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.

5. **Cook Low and Slow:**
Place the covered baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat is falling off the bone.

6. **Add Barbecue Sauce:**
Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven and discard the aluminum foil. Brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce.

7. **Broil for a Finish:**
Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the barbecue sauce is caramelized and sticky. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

8. **Serve:**
Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve with your favorite side dishes like coleslaw, mashed potatoes, or cornbread.

Enjoy your delicious oven-baked short ribs!
