French Onion Soup

 

Ingredients:

 

4 huge onions, meagerly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 glass dry white wine (optional)
8 glasses meat broth
1 inlet leaf
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
Baguette slices
Gruyère or Swiss cheese, grated

In a huge pot, liquefy butter and olive oil over medium warm. Include cut onions and cook, mixing sometimes, until the onions are delicate and caramelized, approximately 20-30 minutes.
Sprinkle sugar over the onions to help within the caramelization process.
Add minced garlic and proceed to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Pour within the white wine to deglaze the pot, scratching up any browned bits from the foot.
Add hamburger broth, cove leaf, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring the soup to a stew and let it cook for an extra 15-20 minutes.
Preheat the broiler.
Ladle the soup into oven-safe bowls. Best each bowl with baguette cuts and a liberal sum of ground Gruyère or Swiss cheese.
Place the bowls beneath the broiler until the cheese is dissolved and bubbly, around 2-3 minutes.
Carefully expel the bowls from the broiler and serve the French Onion Soup hot.
