Delicious Lemon Cake



  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

 For the lemon glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon


  1. Preheat the oven to 350° Preheat F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.3. Add the softened butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, lemon zest, lemon juice and vanilla extract.

5.Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined. Avoid overmixing.


  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top.

7.Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  1. While the cake is baking, prepare the lemon glaze by stirring together the powdered sugar, lemon juice and lemon zest until smooth.
  2. Once the cake is ready, let it cool in the tin for about 10 minutes.10. Carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Once the cake has cooled, drizzle the lemon glaze over the top and let it drip down the sides.

12.Slice  the lemon cake and serve, garnishing with additional lemon zest if desired.
