The actress was born in Los Angeles in 1964. The actress was just 24 hours old when her adoptive parents Barbara Crane and Paul Gilbert took her along with her brother Jonathan. Paul was a comedian, actor and  dancer, but worked as a trapeze artist in a family circus in Buenos Aires.

Barbara was an actress, but her career was cut short.The actress was six years old when her adoptive parents  divorced. “My father was the most incredibly talented, lively, funny, loving and fair person I have ever met.

She lost her father in 1976. In her book “Prairie Tale: A Memoir,” the actress shared that she was told that her biological mother was Kathy Wood, a prima ballerina, and her father was a Rhodes scholar, David Darlington.

According to her, her birth parents were focused on their careers so they didn’t have time to take care of a baby, so they gave the actress up for adoption.He later learned that his mother was a dancer but not a prima ballerina, and that his father was a sign painter and  stock car racer.

After the death of her adoptive father, the actress realized that her adoptive parents didn’t love her either. “I mean, we weren’t planning on adopting a child.

The actress was 11 years old when her adoptive father Paul died. She was told that Paul had died of a stroke, but when she was 45 she learned that her father had killed himself.This was kept  secret from the actress. To find out the truth, the actress hired a special detective and learned that her adoptive father was in great pain while in the care of the VA  and took his own life.

The actress we are talking about is the protagonist of Little House on the Prairie, Melissa Gilbert. He appeared on the show from 1974 to 1983. In 2022, Gilbert published his memoir “Back to the Prairie.”

The actress  married  Timothy Busfield in 2013 and they have a total of eight grandchildren. They met at a bar while Busfield was dealing with his second divorce.

In his memoirs, Gilbert spoke about his private wedding in 2013. Gilbert has a son, Dakota Paul Brinkman, from his first marriage to Bo Brinkman.

Her second son, Michael Garrett Boxleitner, was born from her second marriage to Bruce Boxleitner.Busfield has three children, Samuel, Daisy and Wilson.
