Nelson wakes up on his tour bus in the middle of the night, struggling to breathe and faced with a terrifying situation. A rapid PCR test confirmed his fears: He was indeed infected with Covid-19. Considering his age, his condition was very bad because he caught the virus.

Willie’s wife, Annie, shared the steps they took to help him recover. “There was a nebulizer on the bus. At that time I started taking everything I could, including Paxlovid. Despite all these attempts, Annie admits that there were times when she wasn’t sure she could make it. “There were a few moments when I wasn’t sure he was going to make it,” he recalled of those uncertain times. But Nelson remained true to nature and retained his marketing acumen, saying: “Covid is no joke, that’s for sure.” His ability to laugh and deal with challenges is a testament to his strong character.

After the shocking COVID scare, Willie Nelson and his family are still touring and showing their determined spirit. In September, they performed at the 2022 Farm Aid Music Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they shared the stage with an incredible lineup of artists including John Mellencamp, Margo Price, Chris Stapleton, and Sheryl Crow.
