Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

 

 

Ingredients:

– **Bread Pudding:**
– 4 cups bread, cubed (preferably day-old bread like challah or brioche)
– 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 4 large eggs
– 2 cups milk
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– **Caramel Sauce:**
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup water
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Pinch of salt

– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 2-3 tablespoons milk
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. **Prepare the Bread Pudding:**
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and diced apples.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Sprinkle this mixture over the bread and apples, tossing to coat evenly.
4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture over the bread and apples, ensuring everything is well-coated.
5. Let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the custard.
6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
